Summer so far...

The King family summer so far has been quite fun!  We started out the season with camping on Memorial weekend in Steven's Point WI.  Really nice grounds with a pool, jumping pillow, peddle bikes and lots of kids activities.  We had a visit on Sunday from my Dad and Holly.
The next weekend Aaron and I headed to N.C. for Jeremy and Maria's wedding.  It was a blast seeing all of their friends from the past, ha!  It was really nice to see a lot of people we hadn't seen in almost 10 years.  It was so much fun to see how everyone just hung together so well.  Favorite part of the weekend would be sitting on the big wrap around porch in the rocking chairs hearing all the MI guys tell goofy stories about the past!  The wedding of course was beautiful and a lot of fun, we are so happy for the newlyweds!
The weekend after was Grace's dance nationals in WI Dells.  We camped there with Joe and Heather.  Grace's dance groups did a outstanding job and took High Gold awards in both dances!  We ventured into the dells and rode the ducks and go carts and went to Chula Vista one day to try out the waterpark.
4th of July weekend started off with a visit with Adam and Amy and kids at Kay and Mike's house in IL.  It was so great to see them and get to catch up after close to a year!  Sure do miss those guys and crossing our fingers they decide to move back to the midwest after their Penn State time has expired ;)  That evening we took off after dinner to head north!  Weekend was spent in Winchester WI with the Ghiloni Family.  The weather there was absolutley gorgeous which can be a rare thing this time of year in the northwoods!  We got plenty of time at the "private" beach at the house!  Mark took us out on the boat to take the kids fishing where they were once again reeling them in faster than we could get them off the hook.  Funny thing is later on the evening and again on Sunday the adults went out and could barely get a bite!  We enjoyed some of the other activities in the area with the Winchester boat parade on our lake.  Bobber races, volleyball tournament and pie eating contest at the Winchester park.  We closed the evening with tailgating and fireworks in Ironwood MI with the whole family and friends.  Aaron had to leave on Monday for work that week but the kids and i ended up staying till Friday.  We had some quality time with Grandma MiMi in Minocqua on Wednesday where we visited Pecks wildlife.  What a great place!  They had SO many animals and I thought it was better than any zoo I had ever been to.  You got to feed and pet goats, giant turtles, bunnies, a skunk, deer and even feed a bear some special bear soda, that was behind a cage of course!  They had a big cage where you could go in with the birds and hold them.  They had parrots that talked back and said "hello".  There were wolves, white tiger, beavers, eagles, camels, zebra, kangaroos, every bird you could imagine and all the animals were in close view!  Owen said the camel was "adorable"!  He was amazed by the peacocks.  Grace fell in love with the baby bunnies.  It really was a great experience!  That afternoon we enjoyed lunch downtown and hit the shops.  I was surprised the kids lasted and without any whining!  It was a fantastic day!  Thursday morning we headed over to the Manotowish Waters Flee Market which always proves to be an interesting affair!  Lots of interesting odds and ends but some treasures to be found as well.  Us girls found some nice jewelry!  On Friday we headed out after watching the last space shuttle launch.  We stopped in Plover to visit my dad and holly for a short while but ended up staying the afternoon and didn't head out till 5:30pm.  However, it was a beautiful day and ended up spending a couple hours out on the boat with them which was a great time!
So, now we have been home for the last couple weekends and it has been really great to get caught up.  I did manage to trim back a bunch of bushes and plants and catch up on some much needed cleaning.  Aaron was able to get some items fixed on the camper.  After all that I did find myself kind of twiddling my thumbs this last week.  After racking my brain trying to figure out where to go next I made the executive decision to procrastinate, go figure, and just relax and enjoy some time with the kids AT HOME!!!    But, there is always more awaiting our attention.  When I take a look at my list of "household" projects I start to get a little jealous of my brother and sister inlaw and their condo life with no fixing and pruning and repairing, etc.... and for a minute I think it might not be such a bad way to go!  So, Amy if your reading this remember that when you guys are looking to move on, ha!!  Well, after a morning at the Edgerton Tabacco Days Parade and some afternoon computer work I am going to move on from this chair now and enjoy the rest of the late afternoon with some good friends and dinner they are cooking for us tonight!  Adios for now!   I will post some pictures, later!

  1. Tobacco Days parade? What the heck is that? Adam and I seriously are thankful that we are renters right now. Keeping up with a house during his school work would be nuts! Although we are looking forward to more space. Thanks for the update. And the new pictures of Grace and Owen on the side of the blog are adorable!
