Brothers and Sisters

It's spring break here for all of us. No big plans other than giving the house a good ole spring cleaning.  Kids were SO excited when they heard that was the plan!  We made the first accomplishment this weekend when we made over graces closet with a new shelving system.  

As we have gone into the vacation I can't believe how well my kids have been getting along!  Grace and O have been attached at the hip since school has let out on Friday! Grace had a sleep over on Saturday and all day Sunday Owen hung out with grace and Becca.  Today they have been playing school all day with some intermittent stops for small chores here and there. On a side note upon emptying the dishwasher was a cause of a bit of tiff between the two. Not sure what it is about that job but that is the one time they do seem to fight! Anyhow, after a long day yesterday of playing and hanging out they asked if they could have a week long sleepover  , together!!!  We said maybe not week long but could do so throughout the week. It's so cute cause they cuddle up together in graces bed!  It just baffles me how a 6 and 12 year old girl and boy siblings can be so great together. Don't get me wrong there are moments but nothing too awful.  I talked with a lady at the salon the other day that has a 8yr old boy and 14yr old daughter and they fight like crazy all day long!  Who knows, give it another 2 years and maybe the tables will turn but for now I am just sitting back and enjoying the peace and quiet, most times that is unti they start wrestling one another :)

Tooth fairy -1

Grace lost her tooth at school today. We had a bit of a discussion about the tooth fairy on the way home but Owen was in the car. As I am getting ready for bed she comes in and hands me her tooth!! I looked at her with a slight pause and then the frown formed on my face. She then says, "if u really want I can put it under my pillow".  Sniff, sniff I guess it has come to that point in time. Wow.

Competition day

The day didn't turn out as we hoped it would. Sort of dissappointing to say the least :( graces jazz dance was all over the  place and not real put together. The group still needs a bit of work to get all coordinated. I thought grace did a good job for her first time back after a year,

despite the fact that her first step onstage her knee started to bother her, poor thing was in tears afterwards.  Not sure what the problem is it just seems to act up sometimes. About 2 hours later she was fine.  

The group took home a high silver which was one of the lowest awards given out that day :(  it was a really tough competition being in IL and pulling in all of the big talent from suburban Chicago studios. It was an awesome one to watch with a lot of great talent!!

Needless to say the girls were bummed but sounds like they felt as if it wasn't out of line that they got a low score.  Just means they have to work hard before the next event and figure out where they went wrong.  Like they say, you win some and you lose some. That's just the name of the game!!

Proud Mama

Grace took high honors for the second quarter of school!!! I am so very proud of her :). She is doing such a fantastic job keeping up with school and a busy schedule! It sure is a crazy one right now, dance 3 nights a week, jazz band early thurs mornings and stage crew after school. She also finished up with solo ensemble where her and Gabby performed a duet and got a 1st!!  She has also been working on coreographing her own dance for the school talent show. However, she says she is getting cold feet and not sure she wants to do it :(

Our first dance competition is this weekend in Rockford and we are both excited to kick off the dance season!

As for O, he is about to finish up with bball and has been asking to do dance again. Honestly the only way I am willing to do that now is if it fits into graces time there!  He is also doing fantastic in school and really enjoys it. He is also doing cub scouts and aaron is leading his group.  

Aaron and I are of course keeping busy with all the kids functions. Aaron has been busy at work and settling into his job. It is kinda nice having him around more!  I am finally back to full weeks at school after all of our crazy weather ;) although next week is short with conferences! I am glad the weather has started to get a bit better and we can enjoy recesses outside now!  I am starting to get a handle on my job now as well but still not convinced I am cut out for this. I hate having to parent other peoples kids.  

Looking forward to spring time but would still like to get a few more winter activities in before the nice snow is gone!
